Songs about words

Renowned contemporary performers Juliet Fraser (soprano) and Mark Knoop (piano) present a programme of experimental song featuring works by Charles Ives, Mauricio Kagel, Laurence Crane, and the newly-commissioned cycle Songs about words and about the pleasure of misery by Matthew Shlomowitz.

Soprano Juliet Fraser has a repertoire dominated by the music from either end of the canon. She is co-founder and principal soprano of EXAUDI vocal ensemble and a regular member of Collegium Vocale Gent, directed by Philippe Herreweghe. She has performed contemporary repertoire as a guest soloist with the CBSO, BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, London Sinfonietta, Plus-Minus and Endymion.

Mark Knoop is a pianist and conductor living in London, UK. He performs with such groups as Plus-Minus (London/Brussels), Ensemble Exposé (London), Letter Piece Company (London/Brussels), ELISION Ensemble (Brisbane), 175 East (Auckland), musikFabrik (Köln) and Apartment House (London).
