Event details

The University of Southampton Voices, the University’s community choir, will be taking part in a part in a concert given by the singer Clara Sanabras.

The choir was started with the support of Professor Anne Curry, Dean of Humanities, in February this year and sings under the direction of Harvey Brough, the Turner Sims Professor 2012/13. This concert will be the choir's third public appearance and is a particularly exciting development because not only will they be singing with Clara and other professional musicians, but they will also giving the first performances of new choral arrangements of eight songs made especially for the concert by Harvey Brough.

The concert is of especial interest to members of this faculty because Clara has used material from a LLAS led project called 'OpenLIVES' 2011-2013, which included research data collected by Alicia Pozo-Gutierrez (Modern Languages) consisting of interviews with Spanish exiles including Los Ninos, the Basque children sent to England during the Spanish Civil war.

There will be an exhibition of data and resources created by ML researchers as part of work on the Los Ninos/ OpenLIVES project in the foyer of the Turner Sims on the night of the concert.

The choir is happy to welcome new members as any time. Full details can be found on the Lifelong Learning website.
