Event details
A weekend celebration of the music of Italy, performed across the city by University of Southampton staff and students
University of Southampton staff and students celebrate the Music of Italy.
The event begins with 'A Day at the Opera' on Friday 7 March - a lunchtime concert with Welsh National Opera singer Mark Llewelyn Evans followed by an afternoon of workshops with vocal specialist Mary King and WNO singers. This is immediately followed by 'Clementi Calling' - a marathon of music by Italian composer Muzio Clementi, performed by keyboard students from the Music Department, followed by a fun musical quiz.
Tudor House welcomes our performers on Saturday 8 March for two repeat performances of 'Italian Madrigals Englished' throughout the day, and the event culminates at St. Michael's Church on Sunday 9 March with an evening concert of music by great Italian composers 'From Venice to 'Rome, including Vivaldi favourites.
