Event details

In this programme, Kevin and Francesco wish to explore and pay homage to the varied musical cultures of their native countries.

We begin our  musical journey in the Old World, with songs and opera arias by Giuseppe Verdi that take us back to fictionalised biblical times and to 16th-century Spain.  We then cross the Ocean and travel to North America, where we explore a wealth of musical traditions from spiritual songs to musical theatre.  Our journey takes place mostly on water, as we visit and navigate lakes, rivers, and oceans.  It is a journey of  suffering, discovery, hope, and redemption.  But there will be time to raise a glass, of course, in the best tradition of 19th-century musical culture!

Mercury Quartet Composition Workshop

We are delighted to welcome back the Mercury Quartet following a highly instructive and inspiring day of workshops for Southampton third year students in 2013.
