Event details

Philosophy at Southampton is hosting two 6th Form Philosophy Conferences, generously supported by the Royal Institute of Philosophy, on Tuesday the 1st of April and Tuesday the 24th of June.

We aim not only to stimulate and challenge students already studying Philosophy, but also to introduce interested students studying other subjects to Philosophy for the first time.

The conferences will include lectures on a variety of accessible philosophical topics delivered in an engaging way by University of Southampton philosophers, with plenty of time for Q & A. There will also be smaller break-out sessions, in which students participate in seminar-style discussion. Moreover, we're happy to shape the day's content and format to the needs and interests of the attending schools and colleges, insofar as flexibility allows. We can also arrange a campus tour and a talk on studying philosophy at university, if these sorts of activities would be of interest.

Numbers are limited and registration is first-come first-served. If you wish to bring a group of students from your school or college, please email Conor McHugh (C.McHugh@soton.ac.uk), specifying:

1.            Which date you would like to register for (1st April or 24th June),

2.            Whether you would be able to make the other date, in case of your first choice being full, and

3.            How many students you expect to bring.

Please also feel free to indicate any particular areas of philosophy that you would like us to cover, and to ask any questions you may have.
