Thomas Seltz (1978) is an intercultural composer and Head of Jazz and Pop at the University of Southampton. I dreamt a new reality (2013-2014) is a duet for acoustic guitar and piano in three movements which addresses a vacuum in the repertoire and explores the ways in which these two comprehensive instruments can coexist. It also marks the beginning of Thomas’ research on writing new music for the guitar by assimilating and elaborating on playing techniques used throughout the range of plucked string instruments in traditional and popular genres. Thomas sincerely thanks David Owen Norris and Vincent Lindsey-Clark for embarking on this adventure.
