Hilde Haraldsen Sveen and Signe Bakk from the Grieg Academy in Bergen perform a concert as part of their visit to the University as part of a Norwegian celebration with Turner Sims
Soprano Hilde Haraldsen Sveen was educated at the Music Conservatory of Agder College and at Universität der Künste Berlin. Since her debut as Gilda in Rigoletto at the Norwegian Opera she has sung in a number of leading roles at the same institution, her latest being Sophie in Der Rosenkavalier by Richard Strauss. Sveen is a versatile and much sought-after soloist for oratorios and concerts, and she has given many recitals to critical acclaim. She appears on several recordings of Norwegian music.
Signe Bakke was educated at the Grieg Academy and the Norwegian Academy of Music, and gave her debut concert in Oslo at age twenty-three. Her engagements as solo pianist, chamber musician and accompanist have taken her to many countries, and she has featured at various festivals. She has a close association with 'Troldhaugen', Edvard Grieg's home, where she has performed Grieg’s music in numerous concerts, and has recorded several CDs. Her discography also includes the critically acclaimed CDs Crystalline with solo works by the japanese composer Karen Tanaka, and Pour Mi with songs by Olivier Messiaen and Claire Delbos.
Hilde Haraldsen Sveen and Signe Bakke hold positions as Associate Professors at the Grieg Academy in Bergen. Together they have released the CD Millom Rosor with songs by Edvard Grieg.
