Event details

Peter Bridgwood, voice

Swansong

Continuing on from Peter's final recital of last year, he has chosen to continue exploring the world of Lieder, with this concert focussing on the works of Franz Schubert. Beginning with the little known work Der Tod Oscars (The Death of Oscar), a setting of the Ossian ballads, transcribed by James Macpherson, detailing the heroic tale (and death) of Oscar. Peter will also be performing the Heinrich Heine poems from Schubert’s well known cycle Schwanengesang, following the protagonist after the death of his beloved, his attempts at moving on, and his eventual realisation that he is now a shadow of his former self.
