Event details

You are cordially invited to the ninth annual Human Rights Lecture which will be given by Martyn Day.

Britain and Human Rights: We Talk the Talk but do we Walk the Walk?

This year our speaker is Martyn Day, a British solicitor specializing in international, environmental and product liability claims.

Britain has been at the forefront of the development of human rights from the Magna Carta to the Human Rights Act and British Multi Nationals have been at the forefront of developing CSR policies for their subsidiaries operating around the world. Despite all of that how are we actually when it comes to human rights? The fact that the International Criminal Court is investigating the role of the British Army in Iraq following the 2003 War does not speak well of our country as does not the time after time when our companies have been found to have left their decency in this country rather than apply our standards to foreign situations.

All and more to be explored.

RSVP by 1pm on 9 December 2019
This event is free however you must register to attend and receive joining instructions. This is a very popular lecture so please ensure you register soon to avoid disappointment. If the lecture is fully booked please email Tracy Storey to be added to the waiting list.

Refreshments will be served from 17:30 and the lecture will follow. There will be a charity collection for Amnesty International at the end of the lecture.

You can watch a live stream of the lecture via this link. The live stream will be available on Thursday.
