Part of the CMRC research seminar series
In this seminar six postgraduate researchers from across the faculty will come together to discuss the trials, tribulations and triumphs of interdisciplinary research. What does ‘interdisciplinarity’ mean to us? How do we actually practice it? Are we doing it right? Is it worth it?
Our speakers will each introduce their projects in a 4-minute flash-paper, followed by questions from the floor.
The speakers are:
1. Thomas Dhoop (Archaeology), 'A Maritime Archaeology of Towns: A Multidisciplinarity Through Thirding'
2. Brenna Gibson (History/Economics), 'Medieval Seafarers of England'
3. Kirsty Bolton (English), 'Motherhood, Construction, and Lineage in two French Romances'
4. Chloe McKenzie (History), 'Ladies of the Garter: Late Medieval Princely Patronage and Female Agency'.
5. Katarzyna Kosior (History), 'Being a Queen in Early Modern Europe'
6. Stephen Watkins (English), 'William Davenant's Theatres of Pleasure’
The seminar will conclude with a Q & A and open roundtable discussion on the theme of ‘Trying Inter/multidisciplinarity’.
The seminar will take place at 5pm in room 65/1173 on 25 April. Dr Anthony Ossa-Richardson (English) has very kindly agreed to chair the session.
