Taught degrees
Our exciting range of taught degrees will give you in-depth knowledge and a firm foundation of transferable skills.
As a Humanities postgraduate research or taught student, you can carve your own path through academia, either by undertaking your own research in the area which most interests you or following one of our exciting programmes of study.
Humanities offers dedicated supervision, the chance to get involved in academic and social activities and an established programme of skills training. As part of an increasingly diverse postgraduate community you will find a department and inter-department home, a place to meet like (and unlike) minds and to build your achievements alongside those of others.
In our Graduate School, you will also gain the broader personal and professional skills essential both for your postgraduate research and for your lifelong career choices.
You can also visit the individual department sites to discover more about postgraduate studies: Archaeology, English, Film, History, Modern Languages, Music and Philosophy.

I’m having to learn to express my research in a way which satisfies the demanding academic standards. But my supervisor is very supportive and I’m enjoying getting to grips with the subject. I would encourage anyone to consider taking a PhD in a subject that really interests them. It’s incredibly stimulating and very rewarding.
