Hi, I'm Alex Cunningham and I studied MA Jewish History and Culture within Humanities at the University of Southampton.

The most enjoyable part of my degree is the opportunity to undertake original research with a group of people who are equally as passionate about the subject.

During my undergraduate course at the university I did a number of modules on Jewish history and found them really interesting. The fact that Southampton University has lecturers and the Parkes Library that specialises in the subject also helped.

The thing that stood out about Southampton was how friendly it was. The lecturers and students all seemed to have a very relaxed and welcoming manner, which fitted in perfectly with what I was looking for.

I’m doing an MA in Jewish History and Culture. I chose it partly because I had a flair for the subject and partly because the University offered partial funding for the course.

The most enjoyable part of my degree is the opportunity to undertake original research with a group of people who are equally as passionate about the subject.

I think I underestimated how difficult it would be. It is certainly a big step up from undergraduate, but the sense of achievement is also greater.

I am definitely interested in continuing on to do a PhD, however, I would like get a job and gain more experience before I do this.
