Research Centres Reading Groups

Some of our research centres also run their own reading groups which are supported by the Graduate School.

Centre for Maritime Archaeology

The aim of the centre's reading group is to get all people involved in a weekly meeting regarding their research. This is open to any postgraduate student doing research in maritime archaeology. Students meet every Thursday at the centre for maritime archaeology. For more details, contact Rodrigo Pacheco-Ruiz (R.Pacheco-Ruiz@soton.ac.uk)

Southampton Centre for Eighteenth Century Studies (SCECS)

This centre runs the Southampton Postgraduate Eighteenth-Century Society (SPECS). This is a group of postgraduates who regularly meet to discuss stimulating aspects of the long eighteenth century in relaxed and friendly forum. Sessions are interdisciplinary and provide an opportunity for members to present their research on any aspect of the eighteenth century. Each meeting promotes lively discussion and the exchange of ideas, contributing to a vibrant postgraduate network in the field of eighteenth-century studies.

Sessions are of two hours duration; one hour dedicated to the speaker/s and feedback, the other for informal discussion (usually over lunch). We welcome all applications to present your research at SPECS, please contact Jeni Buckley (jcb2g08@soton.ac.uk) for further details.
