Southampton Paediatric IBD team awarded European grant to study growth and body composition in children with Crohn’s disease

Published: 16 September 2018

Dr James Ashton has been awarded a European Society for Clinical Nutrition and Metabolism (ESPEN) grant (fellowship award).

The €39,500 grant was one of only seven awarded from 44 applications across Europe. The work will be supervised by Professor Mark Beattie, with support from Professor Sarah Ennis, Dr Luise Marino and Dr Enrico Mossotto. The study will focus on incorporating body composition and growth measurements into the multi-omic analysis of paediatric Crohn’s disease patients. The aim is to improve our knowledge of growth and body composition in these children to promote good quality growth, personalised nutrition and avoid obesity.
