Hi, I'm Enrico Mossotto and I studied Hilary Marsden IfLS PhD: Advanced modelling of Genomic Data within Institute for Life Sciences at the University of Southampton.

We have become experts in data collection but now it is time to find efficient methods to analyse them.

I started my career as a researcher with a Bachelor’s degree in Biotechnology, which I completed in Turin, Italy. I achieved a good knowledge about biological systems and the best used techniques in molecular biology. During my BSc, I joined a bioinformatics research team who helped me develop my skills in managing biological data. Later on, I started a Master’s degree in Molecular Biotechnology with a particular focus on systems biology, network theory and big data. Following this, the natural progression was to start a PhD.

My project will exploit advanced mathematical topological data modelling and machine learning methodology for the interrogation of NGS data to reveal clinically relevant information that can be translated back to patient care. What really drives me in this field is the incredible potential that computers have in research, looking at them like a shepherd looks at his sheepdog.
