Only when one is part of an interdisciplinary team, or aims to become part of one, does the research outcome reach a level of importance that goes beyond its own cultivation.

I am PhD-student in the lab of Dr. Diego Gomez-Nicola, jointly funded by the Institute for Life Sciences and the Medical Research Council. Prior to joining his lab, I received extensive training in neurodegeneration, neuroimmunology and mitochondrial function, with a particular interest in microglial function.

In Southampton I will continue to work on microglia, aiming to elucidate previously unknown microglial phenotypes in development and ageing. Molecular neurobiology, next-generation sequencing, and bioinformatics are all integral to the work.

Long-term I see myself working in the intersection of academia, industry and policy. Motivated by the communication of science, innovation and teaching.
