Creativity is often sparked by the collision of ideas from different disciplines and cultures.

I received a Master of Engineering degree from the South China University of Technology in 2015, supervised by Prof. Yi Cai and Prof. Huaqing Min. My past studies focused on opinion mining, text categorisation and recommendation system. From April 2014 to June 2014, I was a research assistant of Prof. Raymond Y.K. Lau at the City University of Hong Kong. From June 2014 to August 2014 I was a visiting student to Prof. Ho-fung Leung at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. From June 2014 to September 2014 I was involved in a Chinese law-reform research project under Prof. Chao Xi at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. I feel extremely fortunate to have worked with these outstanding researchers and these experiences have helped me develop a passion to explore new techniques for the understanding of individuals and society. In October 2015 I started my PhD studies at the University of Southampton, working with Dr. Antonella Ianni in Economics, Dr. Emmanouil Mentzakis in Economics and Dr. Markus Brede in ECS.

My research interests are Data Mining, Social Network and Health Economics. My current research project is an eating disorder study over social networks. We are exploring the spread of life-style-related health conditions over social networks. This project is a cross of complex systems, health economics and computer science. Our project members have different backgrounds, including physics, economics and computer science. The communication with people from different backgrounds benefits and develops my way of thinking and I really enjoy the collision of ideas from different disciplines.
