Life technologies is an area of interdisciplinary excellence at Southampton. It is the application of engineering, mathematics, computer science, health science and the physical sciences to solve clinical challenges.

Our research spans the entire range from molecular, cellular and tissue engineering, through novel diagnostic devices to assistive technologies for patients recovering from stroke. Many discoveries are translated into the clinic in partnership with industry as researchers seek to improve patient benefit through interdisciplinary, collaborative endeavour.

Southampton is seizing the opportunity to showcase this excellence at an EPSRC visit taking place on Tuesday 19 May. Led by Dr Annette Bramley of EPSRC, the Healthcare Technologies team will meet scientists and engineers from across the University, attend a research showcase and give insight to EPSRC’s refreshed strategy in this area. A few places remain for an open session taking place at midday at Boldrewood campus, where Dr Bramley will present the new strategy and answer questions from the audience.
