As part of a cross-campus initiative, the Institute for Life Sciences is organising a one day event on "Quantitative Biology", defined broadly to include applications of mathematical/computational/bioinformatic techniques to experimental biology/biomedicine.


Aims of the meeting: Southampton has considerable potential in this area, and the aim of this meeting is to bring together those interested to explore ways in which quantitative biology can be further developed at Southampton. 

Programme:  Professor Peter Smith, Director of the Institute for Life Sciences, will introduce the meeting and a number of Southampton based-speakers will each give a short presentation on their interests and expertise in this area from both experimental and computational perspectives. The aim of these presentations is to stimulate collaboration and there will be extensive time for discussion. Speakers include:

Rohan Lewis - Medicine

Ali Tavassoli - Medicine and Chemistry
Dave Woods - Statistics

Presentations will be followed by working group discussions, followed by a plenary feedback session.  The full programme will be circulated once available.
