Event details

The aim of the symposium is to highlight some recent developments in microscopy and imaging that are either already influencing our understanding of biomedical systems or show enormous potential for applications in biology and medicine.

With an excellent mix of both external and internal speakers the idea is introduce and expose those engaged in biomedical and clinical research as well as application scientists to these as yet ‘non-conventional techniques’ over one relaxed and interactive afternoon and stimulate discussion on the immense possibilities.

We are pleased to announce our plenary speaker:

Prof. Clemens Kaminski, University of Cambridge
“Nanoscale Imaging of Neurotoxic Proteins”

Other external speakers include:

Dr Ben Ewins, Carl Zeiss Ltd.
“Zeiss Airyscan – Revolutionise your confocal imaging”

Dr. Caroline Rowland, Dstl Porton Down
“Imaging biological processes at Dstl: looking into the future”

University of Southampton speakers include:

Dr. Philipp Schneider, University of Southampton
“High-resolution 3D imaging in biomedical research using micro-computed tomography”

Dr. Edward T. F. Rogers, University of Southampton
“Super-resolution imaging though optical super-oscillations”

Dr. Sumeet Mahajan, University of Southampton
“Multimodal chemically and structurally selective label-free imaging of cells and tissues”

A detailed programme will be available soon.

Registration: If you are interested in attending the symposium please register by email to IfLSAdmin@soton.ac.uk

While registration is not essential, it will help us plan numbers appropriately for lunch and refreshments.
