Our students

We are proud of our working relationship with our students and continue to improve the learning experience we offer, encouraging feedback from students to help us meet their needs.

Here students talk about their experience in ILAWS and the opportunities it has created.

After the completion of my LLM degree in IT and Commerce I went back to my country Oman to work for the Ministry of Legal Affairs. My primary responsibilities involve advising the government prior to the entry into any international treaty, reviewing major government contracts, and issuing legal opinions for other governmental entities.

I graduated from Southampton with a law degree in 2004 but wanted to further my knowledge of the technical and legal aspects of computer science and communications. The LLM (IT and Telecoms Law) by distance learning was a great choice, enabling me to fit in studying alongside my busy life and my job as a senior communications lawyer for Vodafone.

I must say that the degree I obtained from the University of Southampton has contributed significantly to my success today. This academic achievement is of course thanks to my supervisor, Professor Steve Saxby. It has been more than 10 years since I graduated but the memories of my life at the University and experiences as a sub-warden of the Glen Eyre hall of residence and as the first President of the Thai student society there are still fresh in my mind.

I am studying for an interdisciplinary PhD in internet law through the University of Southampton's Web Science Doctoral Training Centre, after graduating from the Southampton Law School with an LLB (Hons) in Law.

I am an experienced lawyer, who has returned to university to engage in research via a PhD in Internet law with the Law School and the University of Southampton’s Web Science Doctoral Training Centre. I chose Southampton because it is known for its expertise in both areas.

I had heard good things about the course after a family member met Professor Steve Saxby. I also wanted to study in a peaceful place away from London for a more peaceful environment and Southampton seemed to be the right place.
