Award for ILAWS PhD student

Published: 7 March 2013

Henry Pearce, who has just embarked on his PhD studies into legal issues surrounding cloud computing and social media at the University of Southampton, has been named best LLM Regulation and Technology student of his year at King’s College, London. The award reflected his high marks throughout the course and his exam performance.

He chose to move to Southampton for PhD study because of the reputation of the Institute for Law and the Web (ILAWS). “I became interested in the law surrounding IT and the regulation of cyberspace during my undergraduate degree at Reading,” he says. “I knew Southampton was the best place to further my studies and ILAWS Director Professor Steve Saxby advised me to apply.

Henry will also collaborate with Southampton’s web science academics during his studies.
