Planning is underway by members of the Southampton Law School’s Institute for Law and the Web (ILAWS) for the ninth International Conference on Legal, Security and Privacy Issues in IT law in autumn 2014.

Organised by the International Association of IT Lawyers (IAITL), the event in Lisbon, Portugal from 15-17 October will enable academics, practitioners and consultants to discuss emerging issues and the technological environment. Contributions for debate are invited on many issues from intellectual property to cybercrime, online gaming and telemedicine.

Papers will be collated into a book distributed to all delegates during the conference.

President of IAITL and ILAWS member, Professor Sylvia Kierkegaard says: “We will bring together early career researchers from around the world with more established academics, judges, European Commission and other public sector specialists and industry leaders to discuss issues and topics at the heart of current developments”.

The journal Computer Law and Security Review, edited by ILAWS member Professor Steve Saxby will sponsor awards for the best academic and student papers. In 2014 CLSR was selected by Thomson Reuters for inclusion in the Web of Science, Social Science Citation Index with effect from Vol 27.1.
