Manuel joined ILIaD as a Lecturer in Online Learning and Teaching in 2016.  He co-ordinates the online tutoring of the MOOCs, develops and adapts teaching content for the Web Science–related MOOCs and collaborates on a MOOC-related research project with Dr Ruth Cobos from the University Autonoma de Madrid.  He is currently a PhD candidate in Web Science with  MOOCs as his main research interest.

Prior to joining the Web Science programme in 2012, Manuel worked for the Faculty of Humanities as an English for Academic Purposes tutor and as a part-time lecturer in Spanish Language. He also has experience in teaching online in varied contexts such as Second Life, where he taught languages in 2007 and 2008, and the MOOC programme of the University of Southampton, where he has been a facilitation coordinator since 2013.

Before joining the University of Southampton in 2008, Manuel worked as an editor for 8 years in a Spanish publishing company 'Octaedro Editorial' which specialised in education.
