The University of Southampton
Insurance Law Research Group

A leading centre for research in and teaching of insurance law

The Law School is a leading centre for research in and teaching of Insurance Law, nationally and worldwide.

Although insurance law is a topic of major importance to private individuals and the commercial sector alike, it is researched or taught at only a very small number of universities in the UK and other common law jurisdictions.

The Southampton Law School is home to several academics whose primary research interest is insurance law. Starting with courses in marine insurance several decades ago, insurance law has grown into a multifaceted academic discipline in its own right.

Research carried out at Southampton Law School includes a project on flood insurance and several conferences, reports and consultation responses on the reform of insurance law.
