The University of Southampton
Computationally Intensive Imaging

Published: 31 May 2012

The CII launch event was held on 31st May 2012 with an attendance of 50 delegates. The event was very well received and deemed a success from all areas.

It was attended by University academics and research staff with interests at all levels of the development and/or application of digital imaging: from raw data acquisition and signal processing, to image analysis and digital curation.

Computation may be identified as a core element of virtually all major imaging developments in recent years. The CII group provides a forum for cross-university interactions, bringing together and leveraging the many world-class imaging capabilities that exist at Southampton. We aim to increase awareness of skills and new developments in computationally-enabled imaging, allowing access to new techniques and identifying new applications and partnerships.

This meeting gave an introduction to the aims and processes of the group, along with technical presentations by leading academics within the university.
