"Southampton Law School educates some of the best lawyers in the world; at present we have 170 LLM Maritime Law students," explains IML Director Professor Michael Tsimplis "Many of our alumni are now in senior positions around the world and frequently send their staff to learn more about the latest developments in maritime law at our annual Short Courses," he says.

Andre Kroneberg from Gard adds: "Our links with the University of Southampton are very important for us. We value the sharing of knowledge and expertise and also want to be visible to potential future employees; we have quite a few former Southampton students working with us today." Gard supports the IML library as well as sponsoring the £2,000 annual Gard Prize.

Jingwen Zheng chose the Institute for her LLM after her first degree in Xiamen, China because of its reputation: "It is a perfect place to study and I would recommend it to anyone because you will learn a great deal from the lecturers and professors at Southampton," she says.

The presentation was made at the Southampton’s Hilton Hotel, venue for the 41st IML Short Course, joined by Mr John Dunt of the IML.
