32nd Donald O’May Lecture in Maritime Law

Published: 6 November 2014

Dr Rosalie Balkin

From the first lecture in 1983, the aim of this series has been to create bridges between what the late Michael Summerskill in the first lecture identified as the three branches of maritime law: the law (practitioners and judges), the market and academia.

Held in Merchant Taylor’s Hall in The City of London, this year saw Dr Rosalie Balkin deliver the lecture titled 'Standard Setting in the IMO'. Dr Balkin is the former Assistant Secretary-General and Director of the Legal Affairs and External Relations Division, recently retired from the IMO. The Chairman of the night was James Wilson, Senior Partner of Ince & Co, and our Vote of Thanks was delivered by Jim Harrison, Group Legal Director of Lloyd’s Register.

This annual lecture takes place each November and we are joined by guests from across the Maritime industry.
