IML Member Filippo Lorenzon recently completed a successful and busy week long visit to Brazil, taking in both Rio De Janeiro and Sao Paulo.

Speaking on 'Laytime and Demurrage in Charterparties' in Sao Paulo Filippo spoke to members of the Chartering, Sales and Legal teams of Companhia Siderurgica Nacional.

Whilst in Rio talks on 'Chartering in the oil business under ShellTime and ShellVoy contracts: selected issues', 'Incoterms and the UCP 600 in the dry bulk commodity trade' and 'P&I Clubs' were delivered to Petrobras, Vale and Fundação Getulio Vargas respectively.

During the visit Filippo was also part of a round table discussion with the judges of the Brazilian Maritime Court, Tribunal Maritimo, which was lead from his talk on 'The transfer of risk in the sale of commodities'. This round table was to stimulate discussion and promote the uniform application of maritime law.
