7th Singapore Short Course

Published: 29 May 2015

The Singapore Short Course has been designed to teach Maritime Law in the ever-growing Asian legal market.

This year’s course took place at the Hilton Hotel Singapore, from the 18th to the 29th of May 2015, with great success. Not only did it see Institute members deliver expert talks on Maritime and Commercial Law, it also showcased yet again the IML’s ability to deliver first-class training on an international level.

The Singapore Short Course bypasses traditional legal training and conferences, and instead adopts a friendly, interactive approach to the teaching of legal practice. The speakers participated in Q&A sessions, as well as small group discussions, all in order to allow 18 delegates to get the most out of this two-week intensive course.

Some of the topics covered included Charterparties, shipping documents in International Trade, Cargo Claims, Offshore Activities and pollution claims. Those teaching on the course included IML Director Professor Michael Tsimplis, Dr. Özlem Gürses, Professor Filippo Lorenzon, and Professor Hilton Staniland.

The IML looks forward to running the Singapore Short Course for an 8th time in the future.
