This year's Donald O'May Lecture will take place Thursday 8th November, held at the Law Society, Chancery Lane. Invites have been sent via email to those signed up to our mailing list, should you wish to join the event please register below. You will be given the option to sign up to the mailing list for future events and courses. This year’s Lecture will take place in co-ordination with the British Maritime Law Association (BMLA) which is hosting the annual Assembly of the Comité Maritime International (CMI).
Chair - Andrew Taylor, Reed Smith LLP
Andrew joined Richards Butler as an Articled Clerk in 1977 and since qualifying in 1979 has specialised in all aspects of shipping law, including charter disputes, off-shore contracts, sale and purchase, casualty response and related insurance issues, with a particular expertise in relation to P&I Clubs and their Rules. He was the Chairman/Senior Partner of Richards Butler from 2000-2005. Andrew is also a co-author of Voyage Charters 4th Edition and the Secretary and Treasurer of the British Maritime Law Association.
Speaker - The Rt. Hon. Lord Justice Hamblen
Sir Nicholas Hamblen was called to the Bar (Lincoln’s Inn) in 1981 and practised at the Commercial Bar from 1982-2008. He was appointed Queens Counsel in 1997, an Assistant Recorder in 1999 and a Recorder in 2000. He was appointed to sit as a Justice in the High Court in November 2008 and was a nominated Commercial Court Judge. In February 2016 he was appointed a Lord Justice of Appeal.

Ian acts for shipowners, P&I Clubs and hull insurers and has also represented clients in some of the leading oil spill cases of recent years. He is a member of Ince’s international emergency response team.
