The successful interns will undertake exciting work and research tasks on real community oriented solutions addressing the following themes, without having to leave home.

  • Emergence of rural women entrepreneurs
  • Rozgar Dhaba -a community information hub: a public policy solution creating job opportunities and mitigating unsafe migration
  • Innovation in rural schools during COVID-19 with focus on Mijwan Welfare Society RNSF (Record-Notes-Share and Feedback) model
  • Developing an online database system for documenting migrant workers in villages under the Rozgar Dhaba programme
  • Developing a system for rural women entrepreneurs to sell their products online-in collaboration with Mijwan Welfare Society Kaifi Azmi embroidery center
  • Developing a system for emergency response in villages during pandemics and natural disasters

The proposed areas cover a broad spectrum of real life challenges and opportunities reflecting on the MWS’ ethos ‘Empower One, Empower All’. The virtual internship is named after eminent poet and founder of MWS Late Mr. Kaifi Azmi who firmly believed that India’s progress inevitably require empowering women and girl children in rural communities.

They will work under the supervision of a project team consisting of UK-India academics and programme managers based at the Mijwan Welfare Society. The interns will receive a certificate of internship upon successful completion of the programme.
