This is a call for applications for new University Strategic Research Groups (USRGs) in new and emerging areas of interdisciplinary research (IDR). This competition will lead to the creation of up to three new groups for implementation in 2014/15 academic year.

The University has adopted IDR as a distinctive character of its research and has made substantial investments in Institutes and USRGs as a commitment to IDR. Over the last five years, USRGs have been instrumental in bridging across disciplines and Faculties and facilitating an interdisciplinary approach to research that addresses some of society’s key research challenges.

A USRG brings together and fosters a community of researchers from across disciplines and Faculties, to address key national and international priority research areas towards understanding and alleviating some of society’s global challenges.

Please return the completed form to by Friday 17 October 2014.
