Event details
The University of Southampton and the National Oceanography Centre will be showcasing their innovative marine research at this year’s Southampton Boat Show, which starts on Friday 16th September.
Callista, the University's state-of-the-art research vessel, will once again be taking visitors onboard, at Berth M540, to show them how the oceans work using hands-on marine science activities and competitions. Participants will get the chance to take a closer look at animal and plant life in the region's coastal waters, find out about the ecology of the seabed and the effects of climate change, as well as the impact of humans on the oceans.
Callista will only be in dock on the 18th, 19th and 20th September.
Professor Ajit Shenoi, Chair of the University's Maritime Studies Strategic Research Group says: "Whether you work in the marine industry or are a budding marine engineer, scientist or archaeologist of the future, or just visiting the show, our stand has something for everyone.
"As the premier maritime university in the UK, we will be showcasing our innovative research and practical solutions for industry and world-leading maritime-related courses for the sixth year running."
