Fun with Microfluidics: Centre for Biological Sciences Seminar Series Event

Microfluidic devices and systems process small volumes of liquid using micro-fabricated chips. These microfluidic chips integrate many processing steps, including sample pre-treatment and multiplex assays, into a single system; the "Lab on a Chip". Devices are being developed for a wide range of applications, ranging from Point of Care diagnosis to environmental analysis. This talk will describe some recent developments in the use of microfluidics for cellular and biochemical analysis, and show how modern electronic manufacturing methods can produce sophisticated low cost diagnostic systems.
