There is currently much excitement surrounding the rapidly growing discipline of synthetic biology, which utilizes the design and construction principles of engineering to develop, evolve and standardize biological components and systems.
Ali Tavasolli will begin the session with an introduction to synthetic biology followed by a exploration of its potential future by artist/designer Daisy Ginsberg . Marcus Dymond will present a description of some of the ethical challenges of synthetic biology.
The presentations will be followed by a drinks reception.
