Event details
What can a writer learn from a scientist? Why would a poet visit a high-voltage lab? The Litmus Project answers these questions. Come and meet science post-graduates from Faculties throughout the university and creative writers from the University of Southampton Creative Writing MA.
The writers will be presenting some of the poems/short stories inspired by the science they learned about:
- Complexity modelling and imaging
- Genetic adaptation to rising CO2 levels in plants
- The nature of biological individuality
- How life on Earth went from simple physical/chemical systems to biological systems
- Numerical modelling of wave resistance
- The human sensation of discomfort caused by vibration and noise in cars, trains and airplanes
- Voice following cochlear implantation
- Photonics
- High voltage electricity
Join poet Professor Robyn Bolam , Professor Peter Middleton , Dr Will May and others and discover the innovative university research which bridges literature and science.
