Event details

The Repair Regeneration Rehabilitation away day is sponsored by the USRG Health Technology Group and aims to form a new initiative within the Institute for Life Sciences

The current title of this group is 'Repair Regeneration Rehabilitation' (RRR) and its formation has been driven by two critical factors:

  • Multidisciplinary expertise and track record at Southampton, particularly in rehabilitation and engineering
  • Social needs and government investment in new health technologies

The aims of the away day are to:

  • Bring together people who are interested in health technologies from across the University
  • Identify potential synergies between them
  • Identify radical new areas of research based on clinical challenges
  • Define the focus of the Group.

The fundamental principle of the group is that it is clinically driven, therefore the first part of the away day programme includes presentations on the following clinical challenges:

  • Successful musculoskeletal ageing - Prof. Cyrus Cooper, Prof. Maria Stokes, Dr Jo Adams, Dr Cathy Bowen
  • Dementia - Dr Lesley Collier,
  • Mental Health and Anxiety - Prof. David Baldwin
  • Falls in Parkinson's Disease - Prof. Ann Ashburn
  • Upper limb neuro-rehabilitation - Prof. Jane Burridge

The presentations will be followed by interdisciplinary Working Groups to identify potential areas of research.

If you would like to attend please email Janette Thompson by Friday 25th May .
