Event details
Crop Systems Engineering: "A Multiscale Model of Plant Root Growth", Prof Oliver Jensen, University of Nottingham
Prof Oliver Jensen, University of Nottingham will describe work undertaken in the Centre for Plant Integrative Biology, www.cpib.ac.uk , at the University of Nottingham in which we have been building a computational model for a growing root of the model plant species Arabidopsis thaliana. This requires the coupling of models at different levels of organisation, from subcellular signalling pathways to shape evolution of the whole organ. I will focus in particular on biomechanical aspects of the project, where we seek to connect the architecture of the cell wall to macroscopic growth properties.
