Professor Glennie from the Faculty of Medicine will talk about his work concerning the therapeutic potential of the immune system for cancer treatment. Professor Glennie and colleagues are particularly interested in responses that modulate the efficacy of antibodies that target CD20 and CD40. The work investigates the mechanisms by which antibodies, against the CD20 on cancer cells and CD40 on antigen presenting cells, can be engaged to act against cancer. It also builds on such understanding of antibody based therapies to highlight routes that improve the efficacy of these important approaches to enhance their potential for wider use in the clinic.
