Event details

Presented by Simon Kemp, Jennie Hurst, Emma Waight and Ellie Tighe

Consumption patterns and lifestyles are radically changing, resulting in unprecedented pressure on the environment. Retailers occupy a unique position of influence in the chain to promote sustainable consumption not only via their daily contact with millions of consumers, but also through their partnerships with suppliers. Simon Kemp and Jennie Hurst will discuss their research for improvements in environmental management across the retail sector in relation to the award winning West Quay shopping centre. Emma Waight and Ellie Tighe will discuss the future of ethical fashion and what practical things we can do to create change and alter consumer shopping habits. This event is in association with the Sustainability Science at Southampton University Strategic Research Group (USRG) and the Sustainability Education and Global Citizens Programme.

Please be aware that filming and photography will be carried out throughout the Multidisciplinary Research Week. If you would like to object to being filmed or photographed throughout the event, then please contact interdisciplinary@soton.ac.uk .
