The Web Science Institute is delighted to invite you to its first Distinguished Lecture with Professor Barry Wellman, Director of NetLab at the University of Toronto.
Professor Wellman is a sociologist focussed on the study of networks - community, communication, computer, and social. His research examines virtual community, the virtual workplace, social support, community, kinship, friendship, using social network theory and methods. He is a member of the Royal Society of Canada and a Fellow of IBM Toronto’s Centre for Advance Studies.
Professor Wellman will be giving a lecture entitled: From the Triple Revolution (Social Networks, Personalised Internet, and Handy Mobile) to Networked Individualism: The Impact on Community, Family and Work.
The lecture will start at 18.00 with refreshments served from 17.30. All are welcome, but please register beforehand.
