This one-day workshop examines current employment needs and opportunities in the Southampton city-region and surveys current transformations of labour markets. Academics and stakeholders from the private, public and third sectors will discuss employment opportunities for young men and women, the recruitment and retention of social care staff, the expansion of creative and cultural industries and the transitions from the military to civilian life.

Panels with explore the consequences of manufacturing decline and the growth of service sector employment, required skills and training opportunities, the scope and scale of employment initiatives as well as decision making processes in the job seeking process.

Confirmed speakers include Professor Pauline Leonard, Dr Julie Brown, Dr Brian Hracs, Paul Spencer and Dr Shereen Hussein.
