  • Professor Xunli Zhang (Faculty of Engineering) 'Flow dynamics in the obstructed and stented ureter within a biomimetic artificial model'
  • Magda Bielecka (Faculty of Medicine)
  • Mr Rami Salib (Clinical and Experimental Sciences) 'Intracellular staph aureus in chronic rhino-sinusitis - a potential mechanism for antibiotic resistance'

If you wouldlike the chance to present some of your research in this area please email Yvonne Richardson (y.richardson@soton.ac.uk) who will add you to the programme. We will aim to fit in as much as possible so be prepared to be brief if necessary!

Potential topics:

  • Biofilms, eg bringing expertise in tribology and surface chemistry into clinical settings to test technology development for biofilm mitigation for application in catheters/stents, etc.
  • Nutrition, eg bringing physical surface scientists into the Faculty of Medicine’s research on how nutritional status may support the bacterium in mutating towards AMR
