Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Are the courses credit-bearing?

No. At the end of your course you will receive an official certificate of attendance, based on 80% plus attendance.

Q: Can I make accommodation and catering requests (e.g. single gender halls, vegan catering)?

Yes. Please email summer@soton.ac.uk with any requests.

Q: What documents do I need to send?

You will need to send us your most recent academic transcript and proof of your English proficiency. More information can be found here: Apply | International Summer School | University of Southampton

Q: My current degree programme is taught in English, do I need to send a certificate of English proficiency?

If we can confirm that your current course is taught in English through your transcript or another form of proof from your institution, you won’t need to send us any further proof of your English proficiency.

Q: What happens after I apply?

You will receive a message to confirm you have submitted your application. You should then send your supporting documentation to summer@soton.ac.uk as soon as possible. Once you have received your offer letter, please read it carefully and let us know if you would like to accept the offer by the deadline stated in the letter, which will be 30 days after you receive the offer letter (this window will be shorter if you apply closer to the final deadline). You will then need to satisfy the conditions of your offer: submit any outstanding documents and pay the full course fees.

Q: When will I need to pay?

All fees for course tuition and accommodation (if you choose to stay with us) will be due within 30 days of you accepting your offer to attend Southampton Summer School. This window will be shorter if you apply closer to the final deadline.

Q: I will be late submitting my supporting documents, what should I do?

Please email us at summer@soton.ac.uk to let us know of any issues or extenuating circumstances.
