Context, Critique and Communication

Critical thinking is regarded by many as a if not the “defining concept of the Western university” (Barnett, 1987).

What is it to think critically, though? And what about contextual thinking? Is it not key to university study, too? But what does it involve? These workshops will demonstrate why thinking both critically and contextually, though sometimes at odds with each other, are going to be fundamental to your future academic success, whatever your degree path, and beyond. By the end of the workshops, you will be equipped with strategies for communicating your ideas critically and contextually with confidence.

The academic organising this topic is Dr. Jonathan W. Leader, Senior Teaching Fellow in the Academic Centre for International Students, Faculty of Arts and Humanities.
