In a time when noise pollution often invades our daily listening experiences, what is the impact of noise pollution on our health and also on wildlife? How much sound do we filter out?

Sonic Explorations: Composing Soundscapes with Logic Pro X

These workshops will explore soundwalking, field recording and composition developing and enhancing our listening skills, while bringing our awareness to our position within the soundscape and how as soundmakers we contribute to it.

Participants will have the opportunity to go on a soundwalk and explore field recording techniques capturing sounds of the environment that they may find intriguing and interesting. We will then bring these sounds back into the studio and explore the musical qualities of these sounds through sound editing and composition using Apple’s Logic Pro X.

Participants will have the opportunity to develop transferable technical skills within the area of music technology such as field recording, creating a sound library, sound editing, and composition.

The academic organising this topic is Dr Brona Martin, Teaching Fellow in Composition in Music.
