Terrorists vs. Counterterrorists

Terrorists vs. Counterterrorists
Terrorists vs. Counterterrorists

Over the past two decades, the phenomenon of terrorism has emerged as one of the most significant national security threats to a wide range of nations, prompting governments to adopt a plethora of security measures to mitigate the threat, and neutralise those seeking to commit acts of terror.

This topic, delivered by Dr Christopher Fuller, will give you the opportunity to explore both sides of modern terrorism, examining the motivations, methods, and end goals of terrorist groups, while also assessing the tools, tactics and efficacy of those charged with countering them. You will be given the opportunity to debate the legal, ethical, and strategic benefits of certain counterterrorism policies, and to debate the best approaches governments can utilise to both keep their citizens safe in the short term, and ultimately eradicate the threat in the longer term.
