In a talk organised by Friends of Te Papa in association with the Millennial Masculinities: Queers, Pimp Daddies and Lumbersexuals conference in Wellington, iPIC co-director Shaun Cole will discuss how LGBTQI fashion and style has been represented in museum collections since 1994.

Based on an essay published in Anna Marie Vanska and Hazel Clark’s edited book Fashion Curating: Critical Practice in the Museum and Beyond this talk will reflect on the presence of lesbian and gay style in the Victoria and Albert Museum’s 1994 exhibition Streetstyle and compare this with other more recent exhibitions in New York, Brighton, London and Ames, Iowa.

The talk will take place on Thursday 12 December, 6:30 pm - 8pm, New Zealand Te Papa Tongarewain, Wellington. For more information and tickets see https://www.friendsoftepapa.org.nz/event/collecting-exhibiting-lgbtqi-fashion-dress/
