Chair in Emerging Technologies, Susan Gourvenec, appointed as Chair of Worldwide Universities Network Responding to Climate Change Global Challenge Group

Susan Gourvenec has been appointed as Chair of Worldwide Universities Network Responding to Climate Change Global Challenge Group for the next two year term of office. Susan had been the University of Southampton’s representative on the Worldwide Universities Network Responding to Climate Change Global Challenge Group for the previous 3 years.

The WUN Global Challenge Group on Responding to Climate Change addresses the catalysts, causes and consequences of climate change.

Collaborative, multi-disciplinary and international research programs are a crucial component of our response to climate change, and experts from across the globe need to work together to explore sustainable approaches to how we can best adapt to and mitigate against a changing climate.

Broad themes of the research include:

  • The drivers and pressures of climate change
  • The states of and impacts on systems affected by climate change
  • Managing a response to climate change.


Current research priorities include:

  • Clean and affordable food
  • Clean and affordable energy
  • Human response and adaption.
